11.9.07 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels lost in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Friday, Nov. 9. The Lady Evangels were downed by the Wayland Baptist University Lady Pioneers in three games. Wayland defeated MACU 30-27, 30-18, and 30-19. "We played well in the first game, but struggled in the final two games," Head Coach Samantha Lindsey said. "Jessica (Chestnut) was hurt, so we had to change our rotation." Senior Jessica Chestnut was limited due to a nagging knee injury. The first game was back and forth, but the Lady Evangels failed to capitalize on several opportunities, especially at the end of the game. The Lady Pioneers took advantage of the short-handed Lady Evangels and defeated them handedly in the final two games. Junior Emily Moore was rewarded for her good season Friday, when she was named First Team All-Conference. Chestnut was named Second Team, while junior Jennifer Roselius and sophomore Jocelyn Mehlhaff were named Honarable Mention. The Lady Evangels fall to 10-19 and finished sixth in the SAC. MACU will host the National Christian College Athletic Association Division I Central Region Tournament Tuesday, Nov. 13. The Lady Evangels will play Oklahoma Wesleyan University at 1:00 p.m. |
