11.5.07 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels honored senior Jessica Chestnut at the last home game of the season Monday, Nov 5. MACU failed to win for Chestnut, losing to the John Brown University Lady Eagles in five games. "It is definitely frustrating losing in another five game match," Head Coach Samantha Lindsey said. MACU has lost six five game matches this year, three of them against Sooner Athletic Conference opponents. "We have to be mentally tougher in those types of games," Coach Lindsey said. "We collapsed in the final two games." The first game was back and forth, with both teams making runs. MACU held the early, but the Lady Eagles would come back and grab the lead. The Lady Evangels made the last run and squeaked out a win in the first game, 31-29. The second game was much like the first, but this time JBU made the final run and beat MACU, 30-26. The Lady Evangels dominated the third game and never trailed. MACU jumped out to a commanding lead and JBU never recovered. MACU won the third game 30-19. The fourth game was much like the third game, but the roles were reversed. The Lady Eagles jumped out to the early and beat the Lady Evangels 30-16. The fifth game was back and forth with each team trading points, but JBU would take an 8-5 lead when it was time to switch sides. MACU would rally, but the Lady Eagles held on to the lead and defeated MACU 15-11. Chestnut had 13 kills in her final home game, while Jocelyn Mehlhaff has 11 kills and Jennifer Roselius had 12 kills. Emily picked up 27 assists in the loss. The Lady Evangels fell to 10-17, and 3-8 in SAC play. MACU will travel to Bethany, Okla and battle Southern Nazarene University Tuesday, Nov 6. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. |
