April 19, 2008 4.19.08 - LUBBOCK, Texas - The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels struggled from the plate in a double header against the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps, Saturday, April 21. The Lady Evangels fell in the first game, 8-0, and lost the second game, 8-0. MACU went 3-for-31 in the two games, while LCU batted 22-for-49 on the day. The Lady Evangels committed seven errors in the two games, which lead to six unearned runs. In the first game, the Lady Chaps struck early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first and second innings, taking a 2-0 lead. The Lady Evangels held LCU scoreless in the third inning, but failed to get the bats going. The Lady Chaps stretched their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring two runs. LCU put MACU away in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring four runs and winning the game, 8-0. Freshman Kat Tims pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs. Senior Holly Steckbauer went 1-for-2 in the game. In the second game, LCU jumped on the Lady Evangels in the bottom of the first inning, scoring four runs. The MACU bats were stagnant throughout the game, as the Lady Chaps allowed two MACU hits. LCU managed to score four runs in the next three innings, and put the Lady Evangels away, 8-0. Freshman Kalynne Tweedie pitched four innings, giving up six earned runs. Freshman Jenna Harris went 1-for-2 in the game, while Steckbauer finished the game 1-for-2. The Lady Evangels fall to 8-38 on the season, and 1-21 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. MACU will battle St. Gregory's University at home, Tuesday, April 21.
