Final Stats

4.17.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels dropped both games of a double header against the Southern Nazarene University Crimson Storm in Sooner Athletic Conference action, Thursday, April 17. The Crimson Storm defeated the Lady Evangels in extra innings in the first game, 7-2, and 9-0 in the second game.

MACU batted 8-for- 45 on the day, including three extra base hits. The Lady Evangels committed 11 errors in the two games, leading to 12 unearned runs. MACU left 11 runners on base for the day.

In the first game, neither team managed to get a runner across the plate, until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Senior Heidi Steckbauer hit a two-run double, knocking in Freshman Jenna Harris and Junior Kasey Gardner.

The Crimson Storm responded in the top of the sixth inning, scoring a run, and cutting the MACU lead, 2-1. SNU hit a solo homerun in the top of the seventh inning. The Lady Evangels rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, but SNU held off MACU and forced extra innings. SNU scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning, and stopped MACU's rally in the bottom half of the inning, holding on for the win.

Freshman Kat Tims pitched eight innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out two SNU batters. Steckbauer finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBI's, while Senior Holly Steckbauer went 3-for-4.

In the second game, the Crimson Storm jumped on the Lady Evangels early scoring four runs in the first two innings of the game, and shutting out the Lady Evangels. The Crimson Storm scored a total of five runs in the fourth and fifth inning, taking the win.

Sophomore Candice Meza went 1-for-2 on the day. Freshman Kortney Knost pitched 2.1 scoreless in innings in relief.

The Lady Evangels fall to 8-36 on the season, and 1-19 in SAC competition.

MACU will travel to Texas and battle SAC foe Lubbock Christian University, Saturday, April 19. First game of the double header will begin at 2:00 p.m.
