Final Stats

4.12.08 - WINFIELD, Kan. - The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels split both games of a double header against the Southwestern College Lady Moundbuilders, Saturday, April 12. The Lady Evangels fell in the first game, 5-2, and won the second game, 11-2.

MACU batted 14-for-53 in the two games, including three extra base hits. SC went 14-for-49 on the day. The Lady Evangels committed four errors, but resulted in only one unearned run.

In the first game, the Lady Moundbuilders jumped on the Lady Evangels early, scoring five runs in the opening three innings of the game. The MACU defense settled down and shut-out SC the rest of the game.

The Lady Evangels offense was stagnant throughout most of the game. MACU put two runs on the board in the top of the sixth inning, making it a 5-2 game. However, the Lady Moundbuilders stopped the MACU rally, and held on for the win.

Freshman Kat Tims pitched six innings, giving up five earned runs and striking out four SC batters. Sophomore Candice Meza went 1-for-3 with two RBI's, while Junior Kasey Gardner went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In the second game, the Lady Evangels struck first, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. SC responded with a run in the bottom of the first, and another in the bottom of the second inning, cutting the MACU lead, 3-2.

MACU broke the game open in the top of the third inning with five runs, while Freshman Kalynne Tweedie shut-out the Lady Moundbuilders the rest of the game. The Lady Evangels added three more runs in the top of the fifth inning and cruised to the win.

Tweedie picked up the win, pitching five inning and giving up just one earned run. Meza went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI's. Gardner finished the game 2-for-3 with a run and three RBI's.

The Lady Evangels are 7-33 on the season, and 0-16 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.

MACU will battle SAC opponent, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, on the road, Monday, April 14. First game of the double header is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
