Final Stats

3.25.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels fell in a double header against the #1 ranked team in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Oklahoma City University Lady Stars, Tuesday, March 25, in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Lady Evangels dropped the first game, 5-0, and lost in the second game, 5-1.

MACU hit 8-for-48 on the night, scoring one run. OCU managed to hit 17-for-50, and scored ten runs in the two games. The Lady Evangels committed six errors, leading to four unearned runs.

In the first game, the Lady Evangels struggled from the plate, managing just one hit and no runs. The Lady Stars jumped on MACU early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning.

The Lady Evangels held the OCU offense in check in the second inning, but gave up a run a piece in the third and fourth inning. The Lady Stars scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, holding on for the win.

Freshman Kalynne Tweedie pitched six strong innings, allowing three earned runs. Freshman Somer Grimes picked up the lone hit for the Lady Evangels with a triple in the fourth inning.

In the second game, MACU took the early 1-0 lead, when Senior Heidi Steckbauer singled in Freshman Somer Grimes. The Lady Evangels defense tightened up, shutting out OCU in the first two innings.

OCU gained the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third inning, while the Lady Evangels missed out on opportunities. MACU threatened several times in the game, but failed to get any more runners across the plate. The Lady Stars padded their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with three runs, securing the win.

Freshman Kat Tims pitched six strong innings, striking out three OCU batters, and allowing three earned runs. Steckbauer finished the game 1-for-2 with a RBI.

The Lady Evangels are 5-19 on the season, and 0-10 in the SAC.

MACU will battle Central Baptist College on the road, Friday, March 28. First game of the double header is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
