1.31.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University women's soccer team officially finished a record breaking year. The Lady Evangels were honored with their post season awards at their annual soccer banquet.

"It was an honor to give the girls what they worked hard for," Head Coach Zach Bice said. "They played hard all year and deserve the recognition."

The Lady Evangels had a record breaking year. At the end of the year, this MACU team broke every woman's soccer record. They finished the season with twelve wins.

Freshman Lindsey McKinney completed a record breaking year, finishing the season with 23 goals. McKinney was awarded with being named the team's top offensive player and getting selected National Christian College Athletic Association All-Central Region First Team and NCCAA Honorable Mention All-American.

Freshman Bailey Williams was named the team's Most Valuable Player, First Team All-Region, and Honorable Mention All-American. Williams was a big part in the success of the program. Williams helped control the middle of the field and finished the season with 19 assists.

Junior Laci Ruppel played opposite Lindsey McKinney and had a tremendous year. Ruppel finished the season with 38 points, 14 goals, and 10 assists, which was good enough to land All-Region First Team honors.

Sophomore Lori Bice was named Second Team All-Region for her outstanding play on the field. She helped anchor a defense that gave just 1.56 goals per game, which is a team record.

Senior Sarah Murphy was received the Players Choice Award for her character and leadership on and off the playing field. Freshman Kelsey Morris was named the team's Most Improved Player.

Bice and Murphy were named NCCAA Scholar Athlete.

"We had an unforgettable year," Coach Bice said. "The girls played hard every game and the results prove it. We are a young team and the future is looking very promising."
