10/9/07 - PANAMA BEACH FLORIDA, Flor. - The Mid-America Christian University men's golf team finished in 16th place at the National Christian College Athletic Association Division I tournament held at the Hombre Golf Club in Panama City, Florida.

In the opening round, the Evangels shot a 323 and found themselves in 14th place out of 18 teams in the field. Ryan McCabe led the Evangels with a 75 while Dustin Nelson shot a 79 and was the only other Evangel to shoot in the 70's. Kelly Miller was third on the team with 82 and Tyler Montgomery contributed with an 87.

"We played a tough course Monday," Coach Josh Lind said. "I thought the guys played well considering the condition of the course."

The struggles from the first day continued to the second round as the Evangels shot a 338 as a team. McCabe again led the Evangels with a 79, while Nelson (81), Bryce Lawerence (86) and Montgomery (91) were the next closest Evangels. MACU finished with a team combined score of 661 for the two rounds.

The national tournament was the last of the season for the men's golf team which now prepares for its spring golf season.

"We had a good fall season," Coach Lind said. "I think we are on track to have a very successful spring season."
