MACU Earns 2nd Place Finish at Central Christian Tournament

MACU Evangels

Sept. 25, 2007

9/25/07 - MCPHERSON, Kan. - The Mid-America Christian University men's golf team earned runner up honors at the Central Christian Invitational in McPherson, Kansas on Sept. 24 and 25 at Turkey Creek Golf Course.

The second place showing is the highest finish for a MACU golf team in the program's short three year history. Individually, junior Ryan McCabe placed third and freshman Bryce Lawrence followed with a solid sixth place finish.

"This is yet another first for our young golf program. I am proud of the guys and the way we played," Coach Josh Lind said. "We took another important step in building a great golf tradition at MACU."

The Evangels played well the first day and were only six shots off the lead at the day's end. The second day brought cold and windy conditions. The team could not catch the front runners, but managed to hold on to second place by three shots. The team also was able to outlast Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

MACU will next play October 1 in the Bethany Classic in Bethany, Kansas. The Evangels will play 36 holes, with the first round at Salina Municipal Golf Course and the second round at Salina Elks Golf Course.

If you are interested in playing golf for MACU or would like more information about the golf program, contact Coach Josh Lind at 405-692-3181 or via email at jlind@macu.edu.
