3.30.08 - NEWTON, Kansas - The Mid-America Christian University men's golf team finished 17th in the Bethel College Invitational, held at the Hesston Memorial Golf Course and Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas. In the opening round, the Evangels shot a team score of 328, finishing the day in 17th place. Junior Ryan McCabe shot a first round 72, just three shots off the lead. Freshman Tyler Montgomery finished the round with an 82, while Freshman Bryce Lawrence (85) and Freshman Cody Flynn (88) rounded off the Evangel scoring. "The weather conditions were tough, especially in the first round," MACU Head Coach Markus Crandall said. In the second round, the Evangels faced tough conditions on a difficult course. MACU finished the round with a 352, totaling their weekend to 680. McCabce led the way again for the Evangels, shooting an 81, while Sophomore Trevin Estep was second on the team with an 88. Montgomery shot a 90, while Sophomore Andrew Shepherd contributed a 93.
