4.1.08 - Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City recently signed Garland senior Charlie Shorter to play men's basketball for the 2008-2009 season.

Shorter, an 18-year-old senior at South Garland High School, was named District-10 Offensive Player of the Year for the South Garland Colonels. Shorter was a guard for the Colonels, and will play the same position for the MACU Evangels.

"Charlie is a player with exceptional scoring ability," MACU Head Men's Basketball Coach Willie Holley said. "He has a good outside game, but can also put it on the floor and create his own shot."

MACU is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Sooner Athletic Conference.
