4.17.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Evangels lost in a nine inning game against Sooner Athletic Conference the Rogers State University Hillcats, Thursday, April 17. The Hillcats defeated the Evangels, 6-0. MACU hit 2-for-27 on the day, while RSU batted 13-for-36, including four extra base hits. The Evangels committed three errors, leading to two unearned runs. MACU left six runners on base in the game. The Hillcats scored early, putting up one run in the top of the first inning, while holding MACU scoreless. RSU struck again in the top of the second inning with a run, making it a 2-0 game. RSU tacked up two runs in the top of the third inning, and continued to shut-down the MACU batters. The Evangels settled down in the middle innings of the game, and shut-out the Hillcats in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. RSU scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh, taking a 6-0 lead, and held off the Evangels for the win. Junior Cody Price pitched 2.1 innings in relief, giving up no runs and no hits. Sophomore Ryan McCoin pitched 6.2 innings, giving up four earned runs and recorded one strike-out. Freshman Brad Workman went 1-for-3 on the day, while Senior Jon Reed finished the game 1-for-4. The Evangels fall to 10-31 on the season, and 2-26 in SAC competition. MACU will complete its series against the Hillcats on the road, Saturday, April 19.
